Rock On Ruby is a much-loved UK brand famous for its relatable, fun, and highly customisable slogan clothing and accessories. Built on the idea of self-expression, they needed a digital storefront that was as vibrant and dynamic as their hand-finished garments.
Their primary objective was to upgrade their e-commerce architecture to support complex product personalisation natively. They wanted to empower customers to become the designers of their own apparel through a seamless, interactive customisation journey, without compromising the site's speed or mobile usability.

Selling highly personalised products online is notoriously difficult using standard e-commerce templates. Customers buying custom embroidered or printed apparel want to choose their garment colour, thread colour, font style, and input custom text—often wanting to visualise the final product before purchasing.
Rock On Ruby’s previous setup lacked a fluid, visual way to handle this multi-step customisation. The standard text-input boxes created friction, leading to customer hesitation, abandoned carts, and a heavy reliance on customer service to clarify order details. They needed a robust, bespoke solution that made personalising a t-shirt or sweater feel effortless and fun.

To solve these technical bottlenecks and inject their trademark personality into the UX, we designed and engineered a fully bespoke Shopify experience:
